Super Trouper is the seventh studio album by ABBA — Agnetha Fältskog, Björn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson and Anni-Frid Lyngstad — released in November 1980 on Polar Records and produced by Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus with engineer Michael B. Tretow. The album was recorded during a period of profound personal upheaval: both couples within the group had divorced by this point — Björn and Agnetha in 1979, Benny and Anni-Frid in 1981 — and the emotional reality of those separations is audible throughout the record, most explicitly in The Winner Takes It All, written by Björn about his divorce from Agnetha and widely regarded as one of the greatest pop songs ever written. The album debuted at No. 1 in the UK, spawned two UK No. 1 singles, and sold over 20 million copies worldwide. Lay All Your Love on Me became the first 12-inch single to go gold in the UK. The closing track The Way Old Friends Do was recorded live at Wembley Arena during the band's 1979 tour.
