Raindancing is the second solo studio album by Alison Moyet, born Genevieve Alison Jane Moyet in Billericay, Essex and formerly one half of Yazoo (with Vince Clarke), released in 1987 on CBS Records and produced by Tony Swain and Steve Jolley (Jolley & Swain). The album reached No. 2 on the UK Albums Chart and spawned three UK Top 50 singles. Is This Love? reached UK No. 3, Weak in the Presence of Beauty reached UK No. 6 and Ordinary Girl reached UK No. 43. Moyet's voice — one of the most powerful, soulful and immediately distinctive in British pop — is at the centre of every track, and Jolley & Swain's production gives the album a warm, polished mid-1980s pop sound that showcases her range and emotional directness to complete commercial effect. The 10-track album demonstrates the full breadth of Moyet's musical personality, from the driving pop of Weak in the Presence of Beauty and Is This Love? to the more reflective and emotionally complex Without You and Stay.
