Freak of Nature is the second studio album by Anastacia, released in October 2001 on Epic Records. Following the global success of her debut Not That Kind (2000), Anastacia returned with an album that consolidated her position as one of the most distinctive vocal talents in mainstream pop. Produced by a team including Glen Ballard and Sam Watters, the album sold over 6 million copies worldwide and reached the Top 10 in 15 countries, including No. 2 in the UK. Anastacia's voice — a raw, raspy, gospel-inflected instrument of remarkable power — is the album's defining quality, and the production gives it a muscular, rock-inflected pop sound that was distinctive in the early 2000s landscape.
