Deep Sea Skiving is the debut studio album by Bananarama — Sara Dallin, Keren Woodward and Siobhán Fahey — originally released in March 1983 on London Records and produced by Tony Swain and Steve Jolley. This pressing is a blue vinyl reissue, making it a particularly eye-catching and collectable edition of the album. The trio had formed in London in 1981 and their debut album reached No. 7 on the UK Albums Chart, establishing them as one of the most commercially successful British girl groups of the decade. Shy Boy reached UK No. 4, Really Saying Something reached UK No. 5 and Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye — a cover of the Steam 1969 classic — reached UK No. 5. Fahey later left the group to form Shakespears Sister with Marcella Detroit. The album's 11 tracks demonstrate the trio's ability to combine infectious pop hooks with a cool, understated vocal style that distinguished them from the more polished end of the early 1980s pop market.
