Heaven on Earth is the second solo studio album by Belinda Carlisle, born in Hollywood, California and formerly lead vocalist of The Go-Go's, released in 1987 on Virgin Records and produced by Rick Nowels and Ellen Shipley. The album reached No. 4 on the UK Albums Chart and spawned three UK Top 10 singles. Heaven Is a Place on Earth — written by Nowels and Shipley — reached UK No. 1 and US No. 1, making Carlisle one of the very few artists to achieve simultaneous No. 1 singles on both sides of the Atlantic. Circle in the Sand followed at UK No. 4 and US No. 7, and I Get Weak at UK No. 10 and US No. 2. The album also includes a cover of Cream's I Feel Free (1966), demonstrating Carlisle's rock roots alongside the polished pop production that defined her solo sound. Nowels and Shipley's production gives the album a warm, melodically generous late 1980s pop sound that showcases Carlisle's voice — powerful, emotionally direct and completely assured — at its commercial peak.
