Album Introduction
A Pocketful of Dreams is the debut studio album by Big Fun — Philip Creswick, Mark Gillespie and Jason John — released in 1990 on Jive Records and produced by Stock Aitken Waterman. The Birmingham trio were one of the later acts to emerge from the SAW production stable, arriving at a point when the team's commercial dominance of the British pop charts was beginning to wane but their ability to construct an immediately effective pop hook remained completely intact. Can't Shake the Feeling reached UK No. 8 and Handful of Promises reached UK No. 21. The album includes a cover of Eddie Holman's Hey There Lonely Girl (1970) — itself a reworking of Ruby & the Romantics' Hey There Lonely Boy (1963) — and a six-minute 12-inch remix of the Jacksons' Blame It on the Boogie (1978), demonstrating the group's roots in classic soul and pop alongside their contemporary SAW-produced sound. This pressing includes the original poster insert, making it a particularly complete and collectable copy.

- Hey There Lonely Girl — Eddie Holman's 1970 classic, itself a reworking of Ruby & the Romantics' 1963 original; Big Fun's reading gives the familiar song a contemporary SAW production while retaining its essential melodic warmth.
- Blame It on the Boogie (12" Remix) — The Jacksons' 1978 disco-funk classic in an extended six-minute remix; a driving, rhythmically irresistible track that gives the album one of its most physically exciting and dancefloor-effective moments.
