Greatest Hits Live is a live album by Carly Simon, recorded at the Martha's Vineyard Performing Arts Center in Massachusetts and released in 1988 on Arista Records. The album captures Simon at the peak of her commercial resurgence — her 1987 album Coming Around Again had returned her to the upper reaches of the charts on both sides of the Atlantic — and the 12-track set draws on the full breadth of her career, from her early 1970s singer-songwriter classics through to her mid-1980s material. Simon is one of the most distinctive voices in American popular music: a New York-born singer-songwriter whose work combines folk, rock, pop and adult contemporary influences with a lyrical directness and emotional honesty that has made her one of the most enduring figures of her generation. You're So Vain — whose subject has never been officially confirmed, though Simon has given partial hints over the decades — features Mick Jagger on backing vocals. Nobody Does It Better was written by Marvin Hamlisch and Carole Bayer Sager as the theme to the James Bond film The Spy Who Loved Me (1977) and gave Simon one of her biggest international hits.
