Spanning six interconnected storylines across five centuries — from a 19th-century sea voyage to a post-apocalyptic future — the film explores how individual acts of courage, love and defiance ripple across time and generations. With a budget of over $100 million and a cast including Tom Hanks, Halle Berry, Jim Broadbent, Hugo Weaving, Jim Sturgess and Ben Whishaw, each playing multiple roles across the timelines, it is a genuinely singular piece of filmmaking.
