Album Introduction
Waking Hours is the second studio album by Del Amitri — Justin Currie (vocals and bass) and Iain Harvie (guitar) — from Glasgow, Scotland, released in 1989 on A&M Records. The album reached No. 6 on the UK Albums Chart, establishing Del Amitri as one of Britain's most respected melodic rock bands. Nothing Ever Happens reached UK No. 23 (1990) — a wry, socially observant track that became the band's signature song and one of the most enduring recordings of the era. Kiss This Thing Goodbye reached UK No. 43 (1989). The 10-track album demonstrates Del Amitri's ability to combine thoughtful songwriting, heartfelt lyrics and a distinctive blend of folk, rock and alternative influences with Currie's distinctive vocal, giving them a position as one of the most critically acclaimed British guitar bands of the late 1980s and early 1990s.
