Quiet Nights is the tenth studio album by Diana Krall, released in March 2009 on Verve Records and produced by Tommy LiPuma and Claus Ogerman. The album marks a deliberate departure from the rock and pop influences of her previous album From This Moment On (2006), returning instead to the intimate, Brazilian-inflected jazz that had defined her earlier work. Ogerman's orchestral arrangements — drawing on the bossa nova tradition of Antônio Carlos Jobim and the lush string writing of classic Verve recordings — give the album a warmth and sophistication that is entirely its own. The album reached No. 1 in Canada and No. 3 in the UK and features 10 tracks plus 2 bonus tracks, including a reading of the Bee Gees' How Can You Mend a Broken Heart and Cole Porter's Every Time We Say Goodbye. Krall's piano playing throughout is as distinctive as her voice — spare, harmonically sophisticated and always in service of the song — and the album is one of the most purely beautiful recordings of her career.

- Quiet Nights — The title track and one of the album's most purely beautiful moments; a Jobim standard delivered with complete restraint and warmth, and a showcase for the interplay between Krall's voice, her piano and Ogerman's delicate orchestral writing at its most refined.
- Every Time We Say Goodbye (Bonus Track) — Cole Porter's 1944 standard and one of the great American songs; Krall's reading is one of the most emotionally affecting on the album, and the song's bittersweet lyric suits her voice's natural melancholy with complete ease and conviction.
- You're My Thrill — One of the album's most vocally demanding and rewarding tracks; a slow, harmonically rich ballad that gives Krall the opportunity to demonstrate the full range and expressiveness of her voice, and one of the most quietly impressive performances on the record.
