Sucker DJ (I Will Survive) is a 12-inch single by Dimples D — Marilyn Smith, from New York — originally released in 1983 on Party Time Records and remixed by DJ Tim Simmonet for a 1990 re-release on Mercury Records. The Tim Simmonet remix reached UK No. 1 (1990), giving Dimples D her only UK No. 1 single. The track samples I Will Survive by Gloria Gaynor and is recognised as one of the pioneering female rap recordings, combining confident vocals, a catchy hook and the energetic sound of hip-hop's emerging era. The 12-inch format features the full Sucker DJ alongside Sucker Drums and a Radio Edit on the B-side, making it an essential release for DJs and collectors of classic hip-hop and electro vinyl.
