The Story So Far is a compilation album by Divine — Harris Glenn Milstead, from Baltimore, Maryland — the iconic American performance artist, actor (known for John Waters films including Pink Flamingos and Hairspray) and Hi-NRG singer — released in 1984 on Proto Records. The album features production by Bobby Orlando and Stock Aitken Waterman, giving the recordings a driving, Hi-NRG-influenced sound that made Divine a cult favourite in the 1980s club scene. You Think You're a Man reached UK No. 16 (1984) — produced by SAW, it became Divine's biggest UK hit and one of the most immediately distinctive Hi-NRG recordings of the decade. The 8-track album demonstrates Divine's ability to combine electronic dance-pop with outrageous theatrical personality, giving the recordings a cultural significance that extends beyond music into the worlds of drag, performance art and underground cinema.
