The Raw & The Cooked is the second and final studio album by Fine Young Cannibals, released in January 1989 on London Records. Produced by David Z and the band, it became one of the most commercially successful British albums of the decade — reaching #1 in both the UK and US and spending over a year on the charts on both sides of the Atlantic. Roland Gift's extraordinary falsetto, combined with Andy Cox and David Steele's tightly coiled funk-pop arrangements, created a sound that was utterly distinctive and impossible to imitate. A genuine crossover masterpiece that holds up as one of the great late-80s British pop records.
