Agent Provocateur is the fifth studio album by Foreigner — Mick Jones (guitar) and Lou Gramm (vocals) — released in December 1984 on Atlantic Records and produced by Mick Jones and Alex Sadkin. The album reached No. 1 on the UK Albums Chart and No. 4 on the Billboard 200. I Want to Know What Love Is — featuring the New Jersey Mass Choir of the Gospel Music Workshop of America — reached US No. 1 and UK No. 2 (1984), giving Foreigner their first and only US No. 1 single and one of the most immediately recognisable and emotionally direct rock ballads of the decade. That Was Yesterday reached US No. 12 (1985). The 10-track album demonstrates Foreigner's ability to combine arena-rock power with melodic hooks and polished production, giving them a position as one of the most commercially dominant rock acts of the mid-1980s.
