Welcome to the Pleasuredome is the debut studio album by Frankie Goes to Hollywood — Holly Johnson (vocals), Paul Rutherford (vocals), Mark O'Toole (bass), Peter Gill (drums) and Brian Nash (guitar) — from Liverpool, released in October 1984 on ZTT Records and produced by Trevor Horn. The album reached No. 1 on the UK Albums Chart. The album made history with three consecutive UK No. 1 singles from a debut — Relax (1983, famously banned by the BBC), Two Tribes (1984, which stayed at No. 1 for nine weeks) and The Power of Love (1984). The double-LP album demonstrates the band's ability to combine synth-pop, rock, dance and dramatic production with Johnson's powerful vocal and Horn's ambitious, theatrical production, giving them a position as one of the most immediately distinctive and commercially dominant acts of the mid-1980s. The album's marketing campaign — led by ZTT co-founder Paul Morley and the iconic 'Frankie Say' T-shirts — made the band a cultural phenomenon that extended far beyond music.
