Life in Cartoon Motion is the debut studio album by Mika (Michael Holbrook Penniman Jr.), released in February 2007 on Island Records and produced by Greg Wells and Mika himself. Born in Beirut to a Lebanese-American father and French mother, raised in Paris and London, and classically trained at the Royal College of Music, Mika arrived with one of the most distinctive voices and most fully formed artistic identities of any British debut act of the decade. The album sold over 5 million copies worldwide and spawned five UK Top 10 singles, including Grace Kelly — which spent five weeks at No. 1 in the UK and became one of the most immediately recognisable British pop singles of 2007. The album's sound — drawing on Queen, Elton John, Freddie Mercury and the glam pop tradition, filtered through Mika's own theatrical sensibility and his classical training — was unlike anything else in the British mainstream at the time of release. The album closes with Happy Ending, which runs to over ten minutes in its album version.

- Happy Ending — The album's closing track and its most ambitious; running to over ten minutes in its album version, the song builds from a quiet, piano-led opening through multiple sections to a conclusion of real emotional and sonic grandeur, and brings the album to a conclusion that is both musically satisfying and emotionally complete.
