Released in 1988 on Telstar Records, Jack Mix: In Full Effect is one of the most ambitious and entertaining DJ mix albums of the era — a single LP that somehow packs in three complete continuous mixes and over 60 tracks. Compiled and mixed by Mirage (the production duo behind the Jack Mix series), it captures the UK pop and dance charts of 1987–88 in a relentless, non-stop format that was designed for the cassette generation but sounds just as fun on vinyl. A brilliant nostalgia trip and a genuine snapshot of a golden moment in British pop.
The Three Mixes
- Jack Mix – The main event, a 32-track megamix spanning house, electro, and pop, featuring S-Express, Bomb the Bass, Kylie Minogue, Taylor Dayne, and more. Highlights include "Theme from S-Express", "Beat Dis", "Doctorin' the House", and "I Should Be So Lucky".
- Pebble Mix – An 18-track pop-focused mix leaning into the softer, more melodic side of the charts, featuring Belinda Carlisle ("Heaven Is a Place on Earth"), Eighth Wonder ("I'm Not Scared"), Johnny Hates Jazz ("I Don't Want to Be a Hero"), and Climie Fisher ("Love Changes Everything").
