Heathen Chemistry is the fifth studio album by Oasis, released in July 2002 on their own Big Brother Recordings label and produced by Noel Gallagher and Mark Stent. The album debuted at No. 1 on the UK Albums Chart and is notable as the first Oasis record to feature songwriting contributions from all five band members — with Liam Gallagher, Gem Archer and Andy Bell all receiving credits alongside Noel. Liam's Songbird — a delicate, two-minute acoustic ballad — became one of the most talked-about moments of the album and demonstrated a side of his songwriting that few had anticipated. The album arrived during a turbulent period for the band following the departure of founding members Paul McGuigan and Paul Arthurs, and its relative commercial underperformance compared to the Gallagher-era peaks was offset by a genuine warmth in the critical reception. Stop Crying Your Heart Out in particular is widely regarded as one of Noel's finest ballads, and the album as a whole rewards patient listening.

- Little by Little — A melodically rich, mid-tempo rock track that showcases the band's post-Britpop sound at its most assured; the production is warm and generous and Liam's vocal is relaxed and confident, making it one of the album's most immediately appealing tracks.
- Born on a Different Cloud — The album's most ambitious track at over six minutes; a sprawling, psychedelic rock song that harks back to the band's Be Here Now era while demonstrating a greater emotional maturity, and one of the hidden pleasures of a frequently underrated album.
