Perrier's Bounty (2009)
Perrier's Bounty is a sharp, darkly funny Irish crime comedy released in 2009 and directed by Ian FitzGibbon, with a screenplay by Mark O'Rowe (Intermission, Boy A). Cillian Murphy plays Michael McCrea, a small-time Dublin criminal who owes money to the feared gangster Perrier (Brendan Gleeson) and has 24 hours to pay up or face the consequences. When a neighbour is accidentally killed and Michael's estranged father Jim (Jim Broadbent) arrives unannounced claiming he is about to die, the three find themselves on the run together through a single chaotic Dublin night. Narrated with deadpan wit and populated with memorably eccentric characters, the film sits comfortably in the tradition of Intermission and In Bruges — distinctly Irish in voice, black in humour and thoroughly entertaining. A cult gem that deserves a wider audience.
