Rush is a biographical sports drama released in 2013 and directed by Ron Howard, with a screenplay by Peter Morgan (The Crown, Frost/Nixon). The film recreates the legendary rivalry between British playboy racing driver James Hunt (Chris Hemsworth) and the meticulous, calculating Austrian Niki Lauda (Daniel Brühl) during the 1976 Formula One World Championship — one of the most dramatic seasons in motorsport history. The rivalry reaches its defining moment at the German Grand Prix at the Nürburgring, where Lauda suffers a near-fatal crash and sustains severe burns, before making one of sport's most extraordinary comebacks to return to racing just six weeks later. The film received widespread critical acclaim, with Brühl's performance as Lauda earning particular praise and a Golden Globe nomination.
