Album Introduction
Sonia Evans, born in Skelmersdale, Lancashire, brought an instantly recognisable voice and exuberant personality to British pop at the turn of the nineties. Her debut album, Everybody Knows, pairs bright dance-pop production with catchy choruses and romantic lyrics, capturing the unmistakable sound of the Stock Aitken Waterman era.
Released in 1990 on Chrysalis, the album features “You’ll Never Stop Me Loving You”, “Listen to Your Heart” and “Counting Every Minute”. Stock Aitken Waterman handle most of the songwriting and production, with additional contributions from other members of the PWL team.
From energetic dancefloor favourites to the gentler “End of the World”, this is a colourful snapshot of early-nineties pop. The photographed copy includes its printed inner sleeve with lyrics, credits and a portrait of Sonia.
Stand-Out Tracks
You’ll Never Stop Me Loving You
An effervescent opening track built around a persistent dance beat and an immediately memorable chorus. Sonia’s bright delivery gives the romantic determination of the lyric an infectious sense of optimism.
Listen to Your Heart
Pulsing synthesisers and an upbeat rhythm frame one of the album’s strongest pop melodies. The contrast between hesitant verses and the confident chorus gives the song its momentum.
Counting Every Minute
A brisk, rhythm-driven track that turns romantic anticipation into dance-pop energy. Its repeated hooks and layered backing vocals make it a natural fit alongside the album’s best-known singles.
Can’t Forget You
An upbeat arrangement puts a cheerful musical spin on lyrics about lingering heartbreak. Sonia’s direct vocal style keeps the emotion clear while the production maintains a lively dancefloor pulse.
End of the World
This interpretation of the song associated with Skeeter Davis offers a softer change of pace. Its reflective mood lets Sonia’s voice take centre stage and brings the album to a gentler close.
