Whatever You Want is the twelfth studio album by Status Quo — Francis Rossi (guitar and vocals), Rick Parfitt (guitar and vocals), Alan Lancaster (bass and vocals) and John Coghlan (drums) — released in October 1979 on Vertigo Records and produced by Pip Williams. The album reached No. 3 on the UK Albums Chart. Whatever You Want reached UK No. 4 (1979) — its driving, twin-guitar riff becoming one of the most immediately recognisable and enduring signatures in the Status Quo catalogue — and Living on an Island reached UK No. 49 (1979).
