Ted is the live-action feature debut of Seth MacFarlane (Family Guy, American Dad), released in 2012 and co-written with Alec Sulkin and Wellesley Wild. Mark Wahlberg plays John Bennett, a Boston man whose childhood wish brought his teddy bear to life — and who, now in his 30s, is still best friends with the foul-mouthed, pot-smoking, celebrity-obsessed bear Ted (voiced by MacFarlane). When John's girlfriend Lori (Mila Kunis) pushes him to grow up and choose between her and Ted, the film becomes a surprisingly heartfelt comedy about friendship, responsibility and the difficulty of leaving childhood behind. A massive box office phenomenon, grossing over $549 million worldwide on a $50 million budget, it remains one of the most successful R-rated comedies ever made. MacFarlane's voice performance as Ted is one of the film's greatest assets — crude, funny and oddly loveable.
