Symphony or Damn is the third studio album by Terence Trent D'Arby, released in 1993 on Columbia Records. Following the commercial disappointment of his second album Neither Fish nor Flesh (1989), D'Arby spent four years crafting this ambitious, sprawling double-album-length collection that reasserted his commercial instincts without sacrificing his artistic ambition. Produced largely by D'Arby himself, the album blends soul, funk, rock, gospel and contemporary R&B across 16 tracks, showcasing a vocal range and emotional depth that few of his contemporaries could match. It reached No. 5 on the UK Albums Chart and spawned four UK hit singles. The album marked a significant commercial comeback and remains one of the most underrated British soul records of the 1990s — ambitious, eclectic and consistently rewarding on repeated listening.
