Pure is the second studio album by The Primitives — Tracy Tracy (vocals), Paul Court (guitar and vocals), Steve Dullaghan (bass) and Pete Tweedie (drums) — from Coventry, released in 1989 on RCA Records. The album followed their debut Lovely (1988), which featured the breakthrough hit Crash — reaching UK No. 5 in 1988 and establishing the band as one of the most immediately distinctive and commercially effective acts in the late-1980s UK indie pop scene. Way Behind Me reached UK No. 36 (1988) and Sick of It was also released as a single from this era. The 12-track album demonstrates the band's ability to combine catchy melodies, jangly guitars and Tracy's distinctive vocal personality into a sound of sustained commercial appeal and indie-pop directness, giving them a distinctive position in the C86-influenced British alternative pop landscape.
