Thor is the fourth film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, released in 2011 and directed by Kenneth Branagh. Written by Ashley Edward Miller, Zack Stentz and Don Payne, the film introduces Chris Hemsworth as the Asgardian god of thunder, banished to Earth by his father Odin (Anthony Hopkins) after an act of arrogance reignites an ancient war. Stranded in New Mexico and stripped of his powers, Thor must prove himself worthy while his brother Loki (Tom Hiddleston) schemes for the throne of Asgard.
