Album Introduction
Relive the romance and energy of Dirty Dancing with the original soundtrack to the 1987 film starring Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey. Released on RCA, this collection blends contemporary eighties pop with earlier soul, pop and rock ’n’ roll recordings, reflecting the film’s nostalgic setting.
Bill Medley and Jennifer Warnes’ “(I’ve Had) The Time of My Life”, Eric Carmen’s “Hungry Eyes” and Patrick Swayze’s “She’s Like the Wind” provide the familiar ballads. Alongside them, The Ronettes, Mickey & Sylvia and The Five Satins bring rich harmonies and vintage character, making the album an enjoyable listen beyond its connection to the screen.
The photographed copy includes the printed inner sleeve with lyrics, recording credits and film stills. It’s an inviting addition for soundtrack collectors or anyone who wants to bring a little Kellerman’s atmosphere to their turntable.
Stand-Out Tracks
Bill Medley and Jennifer Warnes – “(I’ve Had) The Time of My Life”
The contrasting voices of Medley and Warnes give this duet its warmth and dramatic lift. A restrained opening builds towards the sweeping chorus, capturing the celebratory mood of the film’s finale.
Eric Carmen – “Hungry Eyes”
A steady rhythm and atmospheric keyboards frame Carmen’s expressive vocal. Its memorable chorus and polished production make it one of the soundtrack’s defining eighties moments.
Patrick Swayze – “She’s Like the Wind”
Swayze’s gentle delivery brings an intimate quality to this reflective ballad, with Wendy Fraser adding supporting vocals. The spacious arrangement provides a softer contrast to the album’s livelier selections.
The Ronettes – “Be My Baby”
An unmistakable drum introduction leads into a richly layered pop arrangement. Ronnie Spector’s expressive lead vocal and the group’s backing harmonies bring a burst of early-sixties romance to the first side.
Mickey & Sylvia – “Love Is Strange”
Playful vocal exchanges and a distinctive guitar figure give this track its relaxed charm. Its uncluttered groove offers a welcome change of texture among the bigger ballads.
