Whitesnake is the self-titled studio album by Whitesnake — fronted by David Coverdale (vocals), with John Sykes (guitar), from London, England — released in April 1987 on Geffen Records (known as 1987 in Europe). The album reached US No. 2 and UK No. 3, becoming the band's breakthrough international release. Here I Go Again reached US No. 1 and UK No. 5 (1987), Is This Love reached US No. 2 and UK No. 18 (1987) and Still of the Night reached UK No. 18 (1987). The 9-track album demonstrates Whitesnake's powerful vocals, memorable guitar riffs and polished arena rock production, combining blues-inspired hard rock with the larger-than-life sound that defined 1980s rock music.
