Let Go is the debut studio album by Avril Lavigne, released in June 2002 on Arista Records and produced primarily by The Matrix (Lauren Christy, Scott Spock and Graham Edwards) and Clif Magness. Lavigne was just 17 years old at the time of the album's release, and the record's combination of pop-punk energy, melodic directness and genuine emotional authenticity immediately distinguished her from the polished teen-pop acts that dominated the early 2000s mainstream. The album sold over 20 million copies worldwide, reached No. 1 in Australia and Canada and No. 2 in the UK and US, and was the best-selling album of 2002 in Canada. It spawned four international hit singles and earned Lavigne five Grammy nominations. The album's influence on the subsequent decade of pop-punk and alternative pop — particularly among female artists — was considerable and lasting.
