Heaven on Earth is the second solo studio album by Belinda Carlisle, from Los Angeles, California — formerly lead singer of The Go-Go's — released in October 1987 on Virgin Records. The album reached No. 4 on the UK Albums Chart and No. 13 on the Billboard 200. Heaven Is a Place on Earth — written by Rick Nowels and Ellen Shipley — reached US No. 1 and UK No. 2 (1987), giving Carlisle her first and only solo US No. 1. I Get Weak reached US No. 2 (1988) and Circle in the Sand reached US No. 3 (1988). The 10-track album demonstrates Carlisle's ability to combine polished pop, rock and new wave influences with her distinctive vocal, giving her a distinctive position in the late-1980s pop landscape as a solo artist operating beyond the Go-Go's origins.
