Now & Then is the fifth studio album by Carpenters — Karen Carpenter (vocals and drums) and Richard Carpenter (keyboards and arrangements), from New Haven, Connecticut — released in May 1973 on A&M Records. The album reached US No. 2 on the Billboard 200. Yesterday Once More reached UK No. 2 (1973), Sing reached US No. 3 (1973) and Jambalaya (On the Bayou) reached US No. 16 (1974). The 7-track album demonstrates the unmistakable harmonies, warm arrangements and sophisticated pop sound that made Carpenters one of the most successful musical duos of the era, featuring Karen's distinctive voice combined with Richard's expert arrangements and production. Side two features the ambitious Yesterday Once More medley, an 18-minute nostalgic journey through 1960s hits.
