Love Hurts is the twenty-second studio album by Cher, born Cherilyn Sarkisian in El Centro, California, released in 1991 on Geffen Records. The album debuted at No. 1 on the UK Albums Chart and spawned three UK Top 40 singles. The Shoop Shoop Song (It's in His Kiss) — originally recorded by Betty Everett in 1964 and written by Rudy Clark — had appeared on the Mermaids soundtrack (1990) and reached UK No. 1, becoming one of the most immediately recognisable pop singles of the early 1990s. Love and Understanding followed at UK No. 10 and Save Up All Your Tears at UK No. 37. This pressing features the Mirror Image sleeve — a distinctive double-image design that makes it a particularly collectable variant of the album. The 12-track album demonstrates the full range of Cher's vocal personality, from the joyful exuberance of The Shoop Shoop Song to the emotional directness of the title track and the atmospheric rock of Fires of Eden.
