A Night to Remember is the third studio album by Cyndi Lauper, born Cynthia Ann Stephanie Lauper in Queens, New York, released in 1989 on Epic Records and produced by Lennie Petze and Cyndi Lauper. Following the global success of She's So Unusual (1983) and True Colors (1986), this third album reached No. 9 on the UK Albums Chart and demonstrated Lauper's continued ability to combine commercial pop instincts with genuine emotional depth and artistic individuality. Its lead single I Drove All Night — written by Billy Steinberg and Tom Kelly, the songwriting team behind Like a Virgin (Madonna), True Colors (Lauper) and Eternal Flame (Bangles) — reached UK No. 7 and US No. 6, and remains one of the most powerful and vocally demanding performances of Lauper's career. My First Night Without You followed at UK No. 53. The album's 12 tracks range from the driving pop-rock of I Drove All Night and Heading West to the more intimate and emotionally reflective Kindred Spirit, demonstrating the full breadth of Lauper's musical personality.
