Out of the Blue is the debut studio album by Debbie Gibson, released in September 1987 on Atlantic Records. Every track on the album was written, composed and produced entirely by Gibson herself — a remarkable achievement for any artist, and extraordinary given that she was just 16 years old at the time of recording. The album sold over 4 million copies worldwide and spawned four US Top 5 singles, including Foolish Beat — which reached No. 1 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and made Gibson the youngest artist in history to write, produce and perform a US No. 1 single, a record she held for many years.
