Rumours is the eleventh studio album by Fleetwood Mac — Mick Fleetwood (drums), John McVie (bass), Christine McVie (keyboards and vocals), Stevie Nicks (vocals) and Lindsey Buckingham (guitar and vocals) — released in February 1977 on Warner Bros. Records and produced by the band with Ken Caillat and Richard Dashut. The album reached No. 1 on both the Billboard 200 and the UK Albums Chart and has sold over 40 million copies worldwide, making it one of the best-selling albums of all time. Recorded during the breakup of two couples within the band — Nicks and Buckingham, and the McVies — the album's emotional directness and lyrical candour give it a dramatic intensity that has made it one of the most critically acclaimed and enduring albums in rock history. Dreams reached US No. 1 (1977), Don't Stop reached US No. 3 (1977), Go Your Own Way reached US No. 10 (1977) and You Make Loving Fun reached US No. 9 (1977). The Chain — the only track credited to all five members — became the band's signature ensemble piece and later achieved cultural immortality as the Formula 1 theme music.
