Friday the 13th is Marcus Nispel's 2009 reboot of the iconic slasher franchise, produced by Michael Bay's Platinum Dunes and written by Damian Shannon and Mark Swift. Rather than a straightforward remake of the 1980 original, the film functions as a reimagining that compresses elements of the first four films — including the origin of Jason Voorhees as a masked killer — into a single, propulsive narrative. Jared Padalecki plays Clay Miller, a young man searching for his missing sister near Camp Crystal Lake, where Jason (Derek Mears) has established an extensive underground tunnel system and is systematically eliminating anyone who ventures near his territory. The film grossed over $91 million worldwide on a $19 million budget and is one of the more effective entries in the Platinum Dunes horror reboot cycle. This Extended Cut restores additional footage not seen in the theatrical release. Mears' Jason is widely regarded as one of the finest portrayals of the character in the franchise's history.

- The Extended Cut additions — The restored footage expands several key sequences and adds additional character development; franchise fans will find the extended version a more complete and satisfying experience than the theatrical cut.
