House at the End of the Street is a psychological horror thriller released in 2012 and directed by Mark Tonderai, written by David Loucka. Jennifer Lawrence stars as Elissa, a teenager who moves with her mother Sarah (Elisabeth Shue) to a rural house they can afford only because of the notoriety of the property next door — the site of a double murder committed years earlier by a young girl. When Elissa befriends the surviving son Ryan (Max Thieriot), she begins to uncover secrets that suggest the past is far from buried. Notably filmed before The Hunger Games made Lawrence a global star, the film was released to capitalise on her sudden fame and performed well at the box office, grossing over $41 million on a modest budget. A solid, atmospheric teen thriller that delivers its twists with reasonable confidence.
