Kick is the sixth studio album by INXS — Michael Hutchence (vocals), Andrew Farriss (keyboards and guitar), Tim Farriss (guitar), Jon Farriss (drums), Garry Gary Beers (bass) and Kirk Pengilly (guitar and saxophone) — from Sydney, Australia, released in October 1987 on Mercury Records and produced by Chris Thomas. The album reached No. 3 on the Billboard 200 and No. 9 on the UK Albums Chart, selling over 10 million copies worldwide. Need You Tonight reached US No. 1 and UK No. 2. Devil Inside reached US No. 2 and UK No. 47. New Sensation reached US No. 3 and UK No. 25. Never Tear Us Apart reached UK No. 24 and US No. 7. Thomas's production gives the album a warm, groove-driven sound that perfectly suits Hutchence's charismatic vocal personality and the band's ability to combine rock energy with dance-floor appeal.
