Like a Virgin is the second studio album by Madonna, born Madonna Louise Ciccone in Bay City, Michigan, released in November 1984 on Sire Records and produced by Nile Rodgers of Chic. The album reached No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and No. 1 on the UK Albums Chart, selling over 21 million copies worldwide and establishing Madonna as one of the most commercially dominant and culturally significant pop artists of the decade. Like a Virgin reached US No. 1 and UK No. 3, Material Girl reached US No. 2 and UK No. 3, Angel reached US No. 5 and UK No. 5, and Dress You Up reached US No. 5 and UK No. 5. The UK edition includes Into the Groove — which reached UK No. 1 — in place of Shoo-Bee-Doo. Love Don't Live Here Anymore is a cover of the Rose Royce 1978 classic.
