The Beverly Hills Cop II – Original Motion Picture Soundtrack is the soundtrack album to the 1987 action-comedy film directed by Tony Scott and starring Eddie Murphy as Axel Foley, released in 1987 on MCA Records. Shakedown by Bob Seger reached US No. 1 (1987) — the only US No. 1 single of Seger's career — and was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Song. I Want Your Sex by George Michael reached UK No. 3 (1987) — a controversial track from his debut solo album Faith. The 11-track soundtrack also features The Pointer Sisters (Be There), Corey Hart, Charlie Sexton, James Ingram, Pebbles, The Jets, Ready for the World and Jermaine Jackson, and demonstrates the vibrant electronic, pop, rock and R&B sound that defined late-1980s cinema.
