April Moon is the second studio album by Sam Brown, released in 1990 on A&M Records. Brown — the daughter of British rock and roll musician Joe Brown — had broken through with her debut album Stop! (1988) and its title track Stop, which reached No. 4 in the UK and became one of the most recognisable British pop singles of the late 1980s. April Moon followed with a more mature and musically ambitious sound, drawing on soul, blues, rock and pop influences and showcasing the full range of Brown's extraordinary voice — a rich, powerful instrument with a natural blues quality that set her apart from her contemporaries. The album's 12 tracks range from the driving pop of Kissing Gate and With a Little Love to the six-minute blues-rock of Troubled Soul and the French-language closer S'Envoler, demonstrating a breadth of musical ambition that the commercial pressures of the pop market rarely allowed her to fully explore. Brown has remained a respected figure in British music, working extensively as a session vocalist and collaborator across multiple genres.
