Stop! is the debut studio album by Sam Brown, born in Stratford, London — the daughter of Joe Brown (rock and roll singer) and Vicki Brown (singer) — released in 1988 on A&M Records. The album reached No. 4 on the UK Albums Chart. The title track, Stop!, reached UK No. 4 (1988) and became an international hit, establishing Brown as one of the most immediately distinctive and vocally powerful British female artists of the late 1980s. This Feeling was also released as a single. The 12-track album demonstrates Brown's ability to combine soul, pop, blues and rock influences with a vocal of extraordinary range and emotional directness, giving her a distinctive position in the late-1980s British music landscape that drew on her family's deep musical heritage.
