Sacred Heart is the debut studio album by Shakespears Sister — Siobhan Fahey (formerly of Bananarama) and Marcella Detroit (singer-songwriter and guitarist) — released in August 1989 on FFRR Records. The album reached No. 9 on the UK Albums Chart. You're History reached UK No. 5 (1989) — a dramatic, guitar-driven track that established Shakespears Sister as one of the most immediately distinctive and commercially effective British female duos of the late 1980s. Run Silent reached UK No. 54 (1989). The 12-track album demonstrates the duo's ability to combine dramatic pop, rock, synth-pop and alternative influences with the distinctive vocal interplay between Fahey's and Detroit's voices, giving them a position as one of the most musically adventurous acts of the era.
