Sky’s Sky 4: Forthcoming brings together classical themes, traditional melodies and a jazz standard in the band’s distinctive instrumental style. Stand-Out Tracks
“Ride of the Valkyries”
Wagner’s dramatic theme provides a striking showcase for Sky’s classical-rock approach. Steve Gray’s arrangement places the familiar melody in the hands of the band’s compact instrumental line-up.
“March to the Scaffold”
This selection from Berlioz brings a darker, theatrical character to the first side. Arranged by Tristan Fry, it offers a contrasting mood to the album’s gentler guitar-led passages.
“To Yelasto Pedi”
Mikis Theodorakis’ melody, identified on the sleeve as the theme from Z, is arranged here by John Williams. Its lyrical character makes it an appealing choice for listeners drawn to the group’s melodic side.
“Xango”
This traditional piece adds a different rhythmic flavour to the second side. Arranged by Sky, it broadens the album’s range beyond its European classical selections.
“Skylark”
Hoagy Carmichael’s standard closes the album with a change of atmosphere. Steve Gray’s arrangement brings a jazz-influenced counterpoint to the dramatic orchestral themes heard earlier.
