Music from the Soundtrack accompanies the 1980 film The Blues Brothers directed by John Landis and starring John Belushi ('Joliet' Jake Blues) and Dan Aykroyd (Elwood Blues), released on Atlantic Records. The album reached No. 1 on the Billboard 200. The Blues Brothers began as a musical sketch on Saturday Night Live before becoming a feature film, and the soundtrack captures the raw energy and reverence for rhythm and blues that defined the project. The 11-track album features performances from the Blues Brothers alongside legendary guest artists including Aretha Franklin (Think), Ray Charles (Shake a Tail Feather), James Brown (The Old Landmark) and Cab Calloway (Minnie the Moocher). Everybody Needs Somebody to Love reached UK No. 2 on 1986 re-release and Gimme Some Lovin' reached UK No. 18 (1980).
