Toy Story 3 is Pixar's third instalment in the beloved franchise, released in 2010 and directed by Lee Unkrich with a screenplay by Michael Arndt. Andy is now 17 and heading to college, leaving Woody (Tom Hanks), Buzz (Tim Allen) and the gang facing an uncertain future. Through a series of mishaps they end up donated to Sunnyside Daycare, where the seemingly utopian environment conceals a darker reality presided over by the sinister Lotso (Ned Beatty). The film won two Academy Awards — Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song — and grossed over $1.07 billion worldwide, becoming the highest-grossing film of 2010. Widely regarded as one of the finest animated films ever made and one of the rare threequels that surpasses its predecessors, it is a film that works on every level for every age. The incinerator sequence and the final scene with Andy are among the most emotionally powerful moments in Pixar's entire catalogue.
