Schumer plays Amy Townsend, a commitment-phobic magazine writer whose carefully constructed single life is upended when she falls for sports doctor Aaron Conners (Bill Hader). The film was a major critical and commercial success, grossing over $140 million worldwide and earning Schumer a Golden Globe nomination for her screenplay. Apatow's direction gives the film room to breathe, balancing raucous comedy with genuine emotional honesty, while a scene-stealing supporting turn from LeBron James playing a fictionalised version of himself became one of the most talked-about performances of the year.
