Whitney Houston is the self-titled debut studio album by Whitney Houston, from Newark, New Jersey — the daughter of Cissy Houston (gospel singer) and cousin of Dionne Warwick — released in February 1985 on Arista Records. The album reached No. 1 on the UK Albums Chart and No. 1 on the Billboard 200, becoming the best-selling debut album by a female artist at the time. Saving All My Love for You reached US No. 1 and UK No. 1 (1985) and won the Grammy Award for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance. How Will I Know reached US No. 1 (1985), Greatest Love of All reached US No. 1 (1986) and You Give Good Love reached US No. 3 (1985), giving the album three US No. 1 singles.
