Whitney is the second studio album by Whitney Houston, from Newark, New Jersey — the daughter of Cissy Houston (gospel singer) and cousin of Dionne Warwick — released in June 1987 on Arista Records. The album reached No. 1 on the UK Albums Chart and No. 1 on the Billboard 200, making Houston the first female artist to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. I Wanna Dance with Somebody (Who Loves Me) reached US No. 1 and UK No. 1 (1987) and won the Grammy Award for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance. Didn't We Almost Have It All reached US No. 1 (1987), So Emotional reached US No. 1 (1987) and Where Do Broken Hearts Go reached US No. 1 (1988), giving the album four consecutive US No. 1 singles.
